Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough:
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Cut in the softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.
2. Roll Out the Dough:
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
3. Add the Filling:
Spread the softened butter evenly over the surface of the dough.
Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
4. Roll Up the Dough:
Starting from one long edge, roll up the dough into a log.
5. Slice the Rolls:
Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 12 equal-sized rolls.
6. Bake the Rolls:
Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving space between each roll.
Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake the risen rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
7. Serve and Enjoy:
Let the rolls cool slightly before serving.
Drizzle with icing if desired.
