Preheat Oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Make the Cookies:

In a large bowl, mix together the chocolate cake mix, eggs, and vegetable oil until well combined.
Scoop out 1.5 tablespoon-sized balls of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the rims are firm but the centers remain soft.
Allow the cookies to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to finish cooling.
Prepare the Frosting:

The butter should be melted in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Stir in the cocoa powder and milk. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then remove from heat.
Whisk in the powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth. If desired, add chopped pecans

Frost the Cookies:

Once the cookies are cooled, spoon or pour the frosting over each cookie, letting it spread slightly over the edges.
Allow the frosting to set before serving.
These cookies are soft, decadent, and have the same fudgy goodness as the famous sheet cake! Enjoy!
